Weekend Recap

Wow! Does your weekend fly by as fast as mine? If weekends had a kite string I would for sure be the one to grab it and keep it grounded. But since I can't I might as well take the Pollyanna approach and be "happy" it's Monday!
Friday night the girls got to spend the night with their Aunt Nan. Which is always a special treat. They get to visit with the cousins their age, and do fun girlie things.
Ben and I got to do a little birthday shopping for a certain little birthday girl. Our Lidda Katherine will be turning 12 on Wenesday.
At the end of our shopping trip we rewarded ourselves with Starbucks. Ben got the mocha frappe and I tried my first ever pumpkin spice latte. ( I thought of you Nicole!) I think I just might be hooked!
Today's pictures are what Katherine and I wore to church yesterday. Katherine wasn't none to happy about posing. So please excuse her inflicted expression. But I did want you to see our cute skirts by Hodge podge Paisley By Nancy. Once again I am amazed at what this lady can create! If you want one like it or similar you can contact her here: hodgepodgepaisleybynancy@yahoo.com or you can find her on Facebook at Hodgepodge Paisley By Nancy.
Have a wonderful Monday, filled with love, joy and peace! Merry

Vintage Inspired Thursday (moved to Friday this week)

Sometimes when you see use a pattern you don't really know how it will turn out. That's the case with this particular dress.
I have an imagination when it comes to fabric.I try to visualize how it would look after it's made. Most the time I am not disappointed. I like to pick material with whimsical patterns. I thought the hootie owls to be cute and fallish.
When the seamstress finished the dress my heart sank.
I was like" WHAT!? A PILGRIM DRESS?!" I don't really want to look like a pilgrim! True , I do like vintage, but NOT THAT VINTAGE!!! After a few alterations it fit much better and didn't look so antiquicated. I think I'll use this pattern again but maybe with a solid color instead of a print. I would love hear from you as a reader and read some of your thoughts. I like emails so email me today at : Stellmerry76@mail.com

Little Andrew

Well I am a day late and a dollar short but better late than never, right? The day before, blogger wouldn't post for some reason. It finally went through yesterday morning. On Wednesday, I usually write about one of the "little birds". So I thought I would post it today instead. (Fashion inspired Thursday will get moved to tomorrow). Just a little off schedule so thank you for bearing with me, my dear readers!
Without further ado, I will introduce you to our little Andrew. Isn't he adorbs?
Seriously, he is the cutest little guy. And chubby? Oh my! Look at them rolls! He has just started to walk and looks rather wobbly. I love this stage when they toddle around. The other day I snapped a picture of him after he had finished his bottle and he had one sock on and one sock off. It reminded me of the nursery rhyme: Diddle diddle dumpling, my son John. Does anyone learn nursery rhymes anymore? Enjoy your day! It's good to be alive!

A little bit of cooking....

Nathan showing his happy plate!

I recently made these salmon patties. Along with a side of green beans and buttered stewed potatoes they were a hit with the Little Birdies. The ones that are picky even ate them which is like winning the victory!
I do believe this is one of my favorite meals that I'll ask my sister to make once in a blue moon. I can make em but for some reason hers just taste better!
I have included  the recipe for salmon patties or croquets , what ever you call them they are pretta gooood!!!
                NAN'S SALMON PATTIES
1 can salmon ( I dig out all the bones)
        2 Tbsp. Chopped onion
1/2 cup a.p. Flour or you can use Self rising ( that's what I did)
        4 oz. cream cheese
1Tbsp. Mustard or a great big squirt
        1 Tbsp. Natures seasoning
       Oil for frying
Mix all together , and proceed to fry. Preheat 1to 2 inches of oil over medium /high heat I use a cast Iron skillet. Drop by rounded Tbsp and being very careful not splatter the hot grease drop into hot oil. Fry for about 2 minutes on one side then flip and fry the other side for about 1 minute or until brown. Drain on paper towels.
I like to use the left overs on Hawaiin bread smothered with mayonnaise mustard and onions.
Now just don't go to the dentist on the day you make these as I am sure they won't appreciate the bad breath! Just kidding uh not really!

Moving day

We had a super busy weekend this past week
My sister moved only about 20 miles or so up the road, but packing is um, kinda stressful? Anyhoo that's what we did all day  Saturday.
I think that reminded me that I don't want to go any where any time soon! My roots have started growing here at this little place we call home. So for the time being that's where we will stay. I am happy for my sister and her family though. They do have more space which they did need with 5 growing children.
I loved our cozy Friday. It rained, and rained some more. In fact it rained all day. It's a perfect kind of day as long as you don't have to no where! I adore a good rainy day every now and then.
Sunday is always good as we get to go to church. My cousin Timothy preached yesterday and it was awsome! I love seeing The Lord work through His people. Our ears was also blessed by to hear 3 timely songs. They encourage me so! God is good friends! For those who would like to hear the songs and sermon go this address,w
ww.eveninglight.net. You will not be disappointed!
I have been enjoying sipping my coffee from cup that my friend Amie sent me through the cara box exchange. Thank you Amie! I always am thinking of you when I use that particular cup!
 Have a wonderful  Monday ya'll!

Vintage inspired Thursday

Today I have my stylish daughter,Angel helping me today.
She wanted to take pictures with me wearing one of my vintage dresses. Seriously, I really, really, like these vintage style clothes. I found the one Angel is wearing at a  consignment shop a few years ago.See the blue insert? I had that added, because it wasn't long enough to cover my knees when sitting. That is a must for me.
My dress is the Dick and Jane print( made again from my grandmothers pattern). The lady we go to church with made it for me. Thank you Elisabeth (Elisabeth Mitchell) for making this darling creation! I do believe she is a genius! I can't sew a lick, other than do a little embroidery. So any one who that can actually sew using a pattern and a sewing machine are just down right brilliant ! Love you my dear friend!
My Dick and Jane dress I have had for serval years and I never get tired of wearing it.
Our pastor preached last Sunday about "who we represent  through the way we dress". And about how we reflect who we are. I know I am a daughter of the King, and truly want to represent Him. Not just the way I dress but through my actions.
The song that is on my heart today that I my sister and would sing when we were little girls is this:
HOW COULD I BE A FANATIC
HOW COULD I BE FANATIC CONCERNING SUCH GREAT SALVATION? HOW COULD I NOT GET EXCITED TO NOT TALK ABOUT IT TO MUCH? IT'S THE GREATST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN FROM GOD TO FALLEN MAN WHAT'S WRONG WITH WANTING TO PLEASE HIM AND WALK JUST AS CLOSE AS I CAN!
SOME PEOPLE GET ALL EXCITED OVER THE THINGS THAT DON'T LAST THEY WILL STAND IN THE RAIN AND THEY WILL HOLLER OVER A KICK AND A PASS, BUT WHEN I THINK OF LIVING FOREVER ETERNAL AND NOW ON AND SUCH, I HAPPEN TO WHISPER WELL GLORY AND THE THEY SAY THAT I AM SHOUTING TOO MUCH!
                                    SO HOW COULD IBE FANATIC?
I am a daughter of the King! I am made in His image! How about you? Do you know where you are going? Do you know who you represent? Something to think about.

"Marnee Tate"

As you all know each Wenesday ,I feature a Baby Bird, here on Each little bird.
Today may I introduce you to one of the darlingest baby ever! She is quite adorable! And oh my goodness! Is she ever good. Seriously she is an Angel Child! For the most part she is content to watch everyone else play. As long as she canbe where she can see everyone she is one happy baby girl!
I am so blessed to be able to care for this sweet bundle of joy on a daily basis.
Her name is Marlee Kate( isn't that a pretty name?) but Emelee ( one of the Little's ) can't pronounce her name and it comes out sounding like "Marnee Tate". So Marlee Tate has been christened Marnee Tate.
I love you my beautiful Marnee Tate!
